"meme" tag glitch

This is an odd one: I just noticed that if you tag an image with “meme”, the system will automatically also tag it with “mème”. Ce qui est en place avec qui?

I see this is of great concern to everyone…

Am I still one of only three people who even bothers to tag pictures?

Well, Brucker, not to sound insulting:
1. Of course a meme website will post meme pictures. The tag is a bit redundant.
2. I don’t especially see how a free tag is an issue, only makes it easier to look for the image.

A different case I noticed though was on the A Wild X Appears! entry. It contained the tag “Pokemon” and “Pokémon”, which for some reason spawned 20 tags in it all reading “Pokemon”.

I just thought it was an odd glitch. I suppose it may not matter in the end, since the search box may not even tell the difference between “mème” and “meme”. Your “Pokémon” example may be an example of why it matters, though. Generating 20 unneeded tags seems more of an issue than generating a single unneeded tag.

As for point one, I know it sounds silly, but the particular case in which it came up was a picture that was not just an instance of a meme, (which 99% of the pictures on here are) but an image talking about a meme.

Anyway, if you think this conversation is pointless, feel free to express it by locking; my feelings certainly won’t be hurt.

So, as far as I can gather from skimming this thread, the system is glitched into acknowledging the existence of the French?

le mème

Found another one: “facade” adds “façade” as a tag as well. So yeah, I think we need to ask James if we want to know how many there are, but it’s probably made to cover various ways of writing automatically, which is a good thing.

I’m not going to start a new thread for this, since I bet nobody cares.

I was tagging images again, when I noticed that this image was duplicated in the entry for Paper Child but didn’t appear in the Katawa Shoujo gallery, so I moved it. The Facebook comment disappeared. (If you move it back, it reappears.)

Just bumping this old thread to say that I notice the tag “pokemon” causes not just “pokémon” but also “pokèmon” now. We should find who’s responsible and have them flogged with a tilde.
