Articles that are being heavily discussed* in their entry page are the ones that go into the Trending bar. It's why you'll see the My Little Pony entry there pretty much non-stop.

* However, typically the comments are all in a junk entry where people are calling OP a faggot and posting Deadpool pictures. The trending bar is then used for members to continue going to junk entries and continue calling OP a faggot while bitching that the entry is trending.

Which makes them ironically hilarious. People get shit trending because they feel the need to comment on it, and then question how it got trending through a comment which gets it trending even longer.

Dragons Having Sex With Cars best entry example all year every year.

Not to mention that the people calling the OP a faggot sometimes start and fuel flamewars on the page making it last even longer.

Seems like most junk entries just stop trending after a while, but some get 404'd. The most recent entry to be deleted was a copy of an existing meme, but with a different name. Others that were original entries (but still absolute shit) are still there.

If they get 404'd, we probably hid them for being spam or a dupe (amongst reasons).

If they're original entries, we go with deadpools. Site policy, as mods aren't omnipresent on the internet, so we can at times accidentally deadpool legit memes.

The trending fairy puts them at the top.
