Quick query about image policy: is original content grounds for deletion, even if it has something to do with the page in question?
Eh…This is kinda iffy territory…
Officially the rules say: “Spam content is forbidden within galleries, such as advertising and trollbait. Using the gallery in order to advertise your own generated content will lead to possible suspensions-”
However, I know that lots of users (myself and other mods included) have “made” their own stuff and uploaded to galleries. For the most part, it’s only a hand full of stuff, and you wouldn’t know they were user generated unless we told you, but still it still technically falls under original content.
I asked Verbose about this In IRC a while ago, and here’s what he said:
I guess moving them and letting the user know they can’t promote their own materials in the entry galleries.
When I say “promote,” I mean “spam.”
If you’re uploading images from different sources, then that’s one thing.
But if you’re just making stuff yourself and uploading it en masse, then I think that’s promoting yourself as opposed to being part of a natural, memetic spread.
At least that’s my take.
Overall, I would say it isn’t encouraged, but lots of the advice animal spin offs still have a “make your own” button. This alone means it’s not 100% against the rules. If it doesn’t break other any other rules (such as meta content, relevancy, or spamming/flooding) then feel free to send us them to review, but it’s not guaranteed grounds for removal.
