Am I the only one who was laughing my ass off when Rue died? No one else in the movie theater did.

I haven’t read the book or watched the movie. Don’t plan to either.

This is the first thread ever about a BOOK.

My school’s taking us to see the movie on Thursday as a field trip. Must be feeling lazy because spring break is close for us.

I heard it’s like a Twilight version of Battle Royale.

No thanks.

I never read any of them but my brother coldfront said that the end of the 3rd one was twilight 2.0.

You racist.

I pooped my spleen giggling.

Mar 27, 2012 at 05:01PM EDT

I…I had to stifle a giggle.

Only because I saw it coming from a mile away. {Didn’t read the book first.}

Wasn’t it obvious though? You KNEW she was going to die. And when she does, Katness or whatever her name was cries about it in constant outbursts. I was thinking “kid, you didn’t honestly suspect she’d make it, did you?”

I think the movie REALLY did the book justice. It followed very closely to the book, and they did an excellent job with catching the suspense of entering the battlefield.

The scene when she is talking to Cinna just before entering the arena was one of the most suspenseful scenes I had ever seen.

In the book, it talks about how Katniss knows that Rue will most likely die, and that she doesn’t want to be the one to kill her. She tries not to think about it though because it is just too horrible.

This is the biggest problem with movies vs. books; you can’t go as in-depth with the characters thoughts in a movie as you can in a book.

It was still really close to the book though.

I need to hyperventilate for a few moments.

Hyperventilating as in you think I’m wrong or that you are excited that it was close to the book?

When Rue died(I didn’t read the book), my mind was going through all kinds of questions, asking why Rue didn’t move away from the spear when she had one week of training. She just…stood there.

If you just started reading the book then why the hell did you come onto this thread?

I liked the part where they all die.

The Hunger Games has had the 3rd highest Opening Weekend in the history of cinema, beaten only by The Dark Knight and the final Harry Potter film.

Neat.

I’m not particularly interested in either the book or the film, but I’m still pretty impressed that it achieved that.
