Why do they change to crap like 1fb.png or 491.png, I end up having to rename every image I save.

They're shortened to three characters so the urls are easier to work with in entries.

Most of the images uploaded to the site are from imgur or tumblr so they already have hashed non-descriptive names anyway. Unless you're a dirty mlp fan who uploads images with insanely long file names that include every character's name.
