Deletion of articles

My question began after some idiot decided to perform article necromancy on this little gem

That article in particular has caused yet another shitstorm, with people immediately jumping in (without thinking) and and either saying

  • "HEEEEELLLL NAAWWWW +1 Deadpool" as if it were something new
  • Some worthless diatribe about pony R34 and Bronies as if this were a new subject
  • Or upload porn to the image gallery
  • The subject of that article has been discussed to death and I am tired of people bringing it up. I tried to tell people in that comment section to stop posting so the article can die again but everyone ignored me. Later Captain Troper there commented that deadpooling was not enough for it, it needed to be deleted and I think that guy is right.

Every now and then somebody (possibly trolls) will always bring up that article and start another round of controversy. Is there any way possible we can have that trash completely wiped from the database? If people really still want to discuss the subject of that article, they can read the Pony General thread where that same topic has been discussed a million times

Also this questions applies to other articles too, I'm talking about articles that were clearly made for spam and trolling and serve only to clutter up search results and confuse new users.

What say you admins? Should we allow the deletion of articles to help clean this site up? Obviously such power should be limited to the DB admins. One SQL query on reported articles should suffice.

We already can delete (more accurately, hide) articles >_>

Whether or not the current mods/admins are doing it enough nowadays I do not know :o

As for disabling comments/deleting articles, I think it should only be reserved for spam or very extreme cases.

I think deadpooled memes were supposed to have been removed from the trending bar, so if you are tired of discussing the same thing a million times, it is probably because you are returning back for more <.<

edit: guh, i just realized that isn't true and that it is totally trending u_u

Otherwise, yea, I am a bit disappointed the search is still not revised to stop deadpooled memes from cluttering up the search, and it has always been my opinion that we could be somewhat more liberal in deadpooling and hiding.

I don't revisit that article. It just keeps coming back on the trending bar every now and then because of either new users or trolls. Whenever it does, people always get butthurt over it.

Well that article is back off the trending bar now at least. But who knows how long until somebody revives it. It may not be spam but whenever new users find it, it seems to stir all sorts of bullshit.

So if article removal is already possible then I recommend removing that particular one.

But I understand that the mods cannot be expected to remove every single deadpooled meme out there, the ability should only used on the troublemakers.

I got told that we keep the crap articles as a sign to the person who created that that's not something we do around here. If some are just completely bad and have pornographic or gory content, then it will probably get removed. See were I'm coming from?
