Yeah, I can see why James wouldn’t want to touch the system at the moment, and why tampering with it may cause more stress on the moderators and staff than it would alleviate on the user-base. So I will drop the idea for now.
So I will just elaborate on a report system I would like to see:
By all means have a visible “Report” button in the designated Image and Video pages that lead to the Image Cleaning Thread and the Video Cleaning Thread. This will help to re-direct traffic that may not know where to go if they see something that does not belong.
As for a Moderator Phonebook, I feel the link should be located in a few places:
~Next to the Inbox, between that and Logout (If we want it visible to only logged in users)
~Next to Chat, between that and Random (If we want it visible to everyone, logged in or not. It would also allow to not to visibly stretch the user bar up there)
~Top and/or Bottom of the Forum Pages, and/or in the Reply Box
~Top and/or Bottom of the Comments Section, and/or in the Reply Box
~The Rule List in the Entry Creation
~The Author List in the Entries
~The Rule List in the Forums
~On a users page
~In the Inbox
~And if possible, in it’s own select box in the Compose PM Page
These should all link to either a master list of all the moderators or different lists of different groups of moderators depending on where you clicked “Report”. Though I think most people smart enough to use the website would just be able to figure out for themselves who they would need to contact, so just a master list would do.
This is a bit of the “Facebook Button Strategy” of getting people to know such a list exists. Perhaps adding it to more places earlier on before removing the redundant ones.
Also accounting for the fact each user has their own URL for contacting them:
The list itself would be INSANELY easy to make and I don’t think it would take too much time to implement.
