Sorry for the stupid question, but what does it mean to give karma and to receive karma?

Giving karma means driving them crazy you either approve or disapprove of their post.

I also noticed that KYM says you gave a karma upvote or downvote before you even posted a forum post. Also, what's the difference between giving karma and giving a vote in the comment section?

Votes in comments does not count.
