Suggestion: Fix “Related Memes” Glitch

To fix this glitch, Add this to the CSS. (It’s not a good way to fix it by “word-break:break-all” only.)

.related_memes .name {
max-width:100px;
word-wrap: break-word;
}

Before:

After:

I’ve checked that this can work on Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Sorry if this was mentioned before, I don’t have the time to read all previous posts. Why aren’t users allowed to delete forum posts after 30 minutes? We can do that with comments I believe. I can understand why not to allow updates, but not deleting. I’m not wishing to delete any forum posts, just curious to why not.

Because krama. If we could remove forum posts, then users would almost definitely delete forum posts that recieved any negative karma. And if someone quoted or referenced that post before they deleted it, then it would just cause a lot of confusion.

And that is bad because why? Karma bombed post get hidden anyways, and obviously they would be best removed from the discussion altogether if the author decides that after their mind is cleared. Post used to be deleted when an account was deactivated by default, and that didn’t really cause any confusion. I mean there are a bunch of old post in burred threads, but shouldn’t users get a say if they feel they want their post (or at least certain post) removed upon the deletion of their account?

Suggestion: Support Niconico’s video API update

Niconico added %user_nickname% info in the latest version of video API. So, it’s finally enabled generating niconico video’s “creator info” automatically as same as YouTube videos in the video gallery. Like this:

Uploaded by "%user_nickname%":http://www.nicovideo.jp/user/%user_id% via "niconico":http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/%video_id%

I’d like to give an incredibly nessecsary and helpful feature- a mobile site/app. Whenever I go on this site on my Android, the ads are always glitching out and the layout makes it hard to maneuver through. This is something a mobile site could easily fix, or could be even better as a mobile app. The only problem is that there is already an app called Know Your Meme on the Google Play Store, but this can easily be gone around by adding some other text. Thank you for your consideration.

I just want to point this out again.

I have a couple of suggestions on how to make tagging easier toward the powers that be.

1: Allow Scrapbookers to look through individual Images Galleries that contain photos that need to be tagged instead of placing them in a randomized, unconventional queue that is hard to follow. Working on reducing the amount of tagless images will be a lot easier this way.

2: Add a “List Images By The Number Of Tags” function to the “Sorted By” feature – it will give users a good idea on where work needs to be done.

3: Allow Scrapbookers to change the tags to images that have been frontpaged. It’s confusing how so much of the featured content is put on display without tags that assist in providing context to said images. Having these tagged would probably encourage other users to tag their own material.

4: Put a better emphasis on including tags when a user has something to upload. Better yet, automatically include a tag for the entry name if a user leaves the tags blank.

5: Allow Scrapbookers to tag videos. It surprises me that this feature wasn’t implemented yet, and it doesn’t seem like there’s any reason to leave it out.

I small one, and one that I’m not sure whether or not it’s been stated before: but how about a mobile version of the site? I tend to check to forums a bit on by iPod (Mainly when I was at school), and I feel like a mobile version would be better and easier to navigate on such a tiny screen.

When you post a picture or video in a gallery, it should be auto-tagged with the name of that gallery. This way, almost every image on the site should have at least one tag on it – making them more searchable. Perhaps we should also make searches come up based on the text in the notes and/or comments – once again so that un-tagged or little-tagged images can still be picked up in searches and categorized.

Images and videos are already searchable by their notes and entry names.

Editable comments, likewise to forum posts with a 30 minute limit.

Deleting and reposting them each time you spot a mistake is just a pain in the ass.

I think that would be a great idea. Only suggestion i have to that is to not have a time limit on the Delete button

A preview button for forum posts, displaying how the message would look when it’s posted, html and all. It’s annoying when you post and mess something up then have to edit it until it’s fixed. Preview could help with stuff like that.

DO I REALLY NEED TO BRING THIS UP 3 TIMES

1) Adding a least liked choice for the video gallery
2) Editing posts and/or ability to proofread posts
3) Maybe a mobile site fix or app

That’s all I can think of on the top of my head.

I don’t know if this has been proposed before, but I would like to get notifications for when someone has edited one of your uploaded images. I’ve recently discovered that someone moved one of my images to another gallery for no clear reason and it kinda bugs me that I don’t know who did it and why.

How about a “Report as NSFW” button? (Or am I simply blind?)

Once you get 100 images uploaded you become a scrapbooker and can edit something as being NSFW on non-frontpagged items. In the mean time, you can PM people who do have this power to edit it or use the image cleaning thread.

Mona you’re a genious. That is such a good idea, having the entries appear in random order is a fantastic idea, and having it show the tag also helps clarify things for the viewer. I’ll make a mental note of some of the better suggestions here, and see if I can bring them up with the other mods

Separate nsfw warnings for gore and porn.
Image galleries should be separated into pages instead of infinitely scrolling and causing my computer to lag.
And some way automatically letting people know if something is a gif, because sometimes I don’t realize something is a gif until I have already left the page.

And I just thought of some more.
We need to have a search thing inside the image gallery so we can easily find pictures from just that gallery.
And we need tags in the forums.

A small glitch in Similar Entry.

It doesn’t work as I expect when I put a tag consisting of more than 2 words. For example, when I put a tag “pose fad” into the similar entry tag(s), it returns this results including Prison pose which doesn’t have this tag but has “photo fad” and “pose”.

The reason is simple: “similar entry” displays this search results:
http://knowyourmeme.com/search?context=entries&q=tags%3A%28%22pose%22+%22fad%22%29

Of course, I expected this search results:
http://knowyourmeme.com/search?context=entries&q=tags%3A%28%22pose+fad%22%29

So, I think this “tag word(s)” processing method shuold be fixed before we expand this feature.

Can someone PLEASE do something about the Timeout thing? It’s probably the 3rd time in the last few months when I’m trying repeatedly to upload a 3MB animated GIF to the Video Game Logic gallery and the site keeps timing out EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I’d like to be able to go more than 500 pages into an image gallery.
Right now, if you try to go more than 500 pages into any image gallery with more than 500 pages of images, you get no images, just “Whoops! There are no images for viewing. FAIL!”
Here is the 500th page of the image gallery.
Here is the 501st page of the image gallery.

In a search, no pages after the 125th page show any images, even if there are enough images in your search to have more than 125 pages.
125th page of a search for ‘reaction’
126th page of a search for ‘reaction’

I really think unliking should be a thing. We don’t have to apologize for hitting the dislike button instead of the like button. This should also be on forums too.

Personally I think it would be a good idea to have a thread where users suggest articles to be deleted. Some articles shouldn’t be deadpooled but simply 404’d because they are not even close to memes or anything else that should be on this site. This for example. Simply clicking random at the top of the page will bring you to many more.

We actually have one already, but the mods with the power to do something about these entries don’t keep up with it as much as they could.
