Arsenic In the Wine and the Pasta refers to a quote from an episode of American Horror Story in which the character Ally Mayfair-Richards serves a poisoned dinner to her wife. On Tumblr, the GIF of the moment has been used in numerous text posts as a reaction image and the quote has been used as a snowclone.

Origin

The GIF comes from the season 4, episode 9 episode of American Horror Story, called "Drink the Kool-aid," which aired on October 31st, 2017.[1]

A GIF of the scene was uploaded to Tenor on November 11th, 2017 (shown below).


I put arsenic in the wine. And the pasta.

On December 4th, 2017, the GIF was included in a text post on Tumblr posted by manfuckyopride,[2] gaining over 28,000 notes, starting the GIF growing popular on Tumblr (shown below, left). Another post added the GIF to an image of a pigeon being helpful. The post overall gained over 99,000 notes (shown below, right).

Tumblr user mercedesbenzodiazepine[4] uploaded a post that read "I put bitcoins in the wine. And the pasta.", gaining over 7,600 notes (shown below, right). The meme was covered by Meme Documentation[5] on December 29th, 2017.
