Barneyfag (Lee Goldson)

Barneyfag is a prominent "4chan" user known for his immense hatred for Barney and My Little Pony. Ever since 2012, he has dedicated his time to identifying and calling out My Little Pony related content outside of /mlp/ in order to get mods to delete it.

Origin

Barneyfag's first identifiable post was on February 20th, 2012 on the /mlp/ board, where he responded to a thread asking about funny moments in the show.^[1] He posted a screenshot of the schedule for Treehouse TV, in which it revealed that My Little Pony aired right after Barney, thus putting My Little Pony on the same level as Barney. The filename of the picture was "Bronies, this is your mindset."

He would go on to post this photo several other times, either in existing threads or making new threads of his own (which would often get deleted). His first post on a board other than /mlp/ was on June 10th, 2012, where he posted it in a /co/ thread talking about Johnny Test.^[2]

It is unknown when exactly, but he would eventually start posting this picture in response to people posting My Little Pony content outside of /mlp/. He would often post it with the phrase "Die, you fucking Barneyfag" which made others give him the name Barneyfag.

Bronies, this is your mindset

The famous "Bronies, this is your mindset" screenshot would go on to become one of the most reposted images on several 4chan boards. On /v/, despite having been hash blocked since November of 2017, still occupies the place of the most reposted images on the board.^[3] The same can be seen on other boards like /co/^[4] and /qa/.^[5]

Lee Goldson

The true identity of Barneyfag would be revealed on /v/ on November 16th, 2016 when a user posted a large infodump about him.^[6] The post contained his name, Lee Goldson, and many of his social medias and accounts on other websites. Barneyfag would confirm the validity of the post by responding to it with "DOXING! MODS!"^[7]

Before this happened, Barneyfag was active in a KiwiFarms thread about him and would regularly reply to other anons on 4chan asking him questions. However, after this dox he stopped posting on KiwiFarms and stopped talking as much on 4chan unless directly provoked. This leads some to believe that Barneyfag really did quit this hobby, and the current Barneyfag is either a bot or a group of trolls keeping up the act. However, this is just speculation and probably not the case.

Foot Fetish

On July 16th, 2020, Barneyfag would accidentally make a post with a picture of Overwatch foot fetish art instead of his usual screenshots.^[8] When made fun of for it, he would not deny it.^[9][10] Eventually, people would start posting My Little Pony foot fetish art starring Don Turtelli, a character from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who tortured his victims by tickling them, in order to make Barneyfag angry. Several photoshops that replaced Don Turtelli with Barneyfag's face would also appear.
