Bone Storm

Description

This quote originated from the encounter Lord Marrowgar in the World of Warcraft raid Icecrown Citadel. Since almost everyone who has hit the level cap has access to this encounter, this quote has become the stuff of mock videos and quotes. It originated with the release and PTR testing of Lord Marrowgar, occurring in November and December 2009, and the encounter is still popular stemming into 2010.

Bone storm is usually said in such a way:
"BBBBBBBBONNNNEEEESTORRMMMMM", usually interrupting someone or attempting to troll or be rude, or spam.

It is typically used in WoW forums, yet it has appeared in 4chan and multiple other sites. It rivals quotes from WoW such as "In the mountains" and "You are not prepared" in popularity.

Origins

It has origins from a Simpsons episode in which a video game named "Bonestorm" played a large role in the plot of the episode. Its faux video game art is shown below in the picture section. It sounds very comparable to the actual WoW sound file, shown here: bonestorm.ytmnd.com/. While "Bonestorm" and "Bone Storm" are relatively different and from different eras, the Simpsons episode undoubtedly had influenced the Blizzard (World of Warcraft) developers when they made this boss. The episode in which "Bonestorm" (the fake video game) appears is "Marge Be Not Proud", aired in 1995. "Bonestorm", in that episode, is supposedly a parody of Mortal Kombat/ Bloodstorm, both video games released in the early 1990's.

Fan Base

Although small and almost completely limited to the WoW community, it's appearance on other sites such as youtube has shown that it has spread somewhat outside of the WoW sphere.

It has been made into an offshoot remix with music also, not unlike "In the Mountains".
