The Bongo Phone meme began on 4chan on October 24, 2006, when an image was posted of a person holding a bongo controller for the game Donkey Konga held like a telephone with the message “HELLO BONGO PHONE!”, followed by a picture of another person with another bongo controller held like a phone with the response, “FUCK, WHO GAVE YOU MY NUMBER?”, both individuals having unusual and exaggerated expressions on their faces.
