It first appeared as a meme in a Japanese computer game called Popotan. Soon after getting more and more popular gifs of Caramel Dansen started to appear in many places. However the real “boom” of the internet sensation happened in late 2007 on a site called Nico Nico Douga. After that people started putting Caramel Dansen on Youtube.
In a way this could be considered like Ran Ran Ruu. It has music + something completely unrelated.
