About
Dr. Rabbit is an anthropomorphic rabbit character used in children's educational videos commissioned by the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Online, the Dr. Rabbit videos are infamous as a frequently-used YouTube Poop source, mainly the Dr. Rabbit's World Tour video.
Origin
Dr. Rabbit was used as a mascot for Colgate-Palmolive's toothpaste brand, Colgate, prominently in the mid-to-late 1990s. He appeared in five videos: Dr. Rabbit in the Incredible Ride (1994), Dr. Rabbit's World Tour (1998), Dr. Rabbit Comes to School (2003), Dr. Rabbit and the Legend of Tooth Kingdom (2004), and How to Have a Bright Smile. Dr. Rabbit's World Tour is arguably the most well-known of these videos.

The Chewiki credits Youtube Pooper Nickshorts with creating the first YTP to feature Dr. Rabbit: Dr. Rabbit's Early Brushing Obsession. Nickshorts' Youtube Account has been suspended for multiple copyright violations, but the video was reuploaded to Youtube by PoopPinchesBack.
The Chewiki describes Dr. Rabbit as:
a pedophiliac racist rabbit dentist (or rabbit rabbit, but the fact still needs to be clarified) who travels the world in his hot air balloon and/or rocket to different locations, where he teaches children about proper ass-brushing techniques and regular dentist-shagging. He claims to be the world's only rabbit dentist and plaque monster.

Walrusguy Allegedly Sued
According to the Youtube Wikia, famed Youtube Flash Pooper Walrusguy (retired) was banned from Youtube and allegedly sued by Colgate. It seems that these claims have been exaggerated.

WalrusGuy (real name: Nicholas Walstrom) is a user mostly known for his YouTube Poops and his flash work on Newgrounds (Where his username is NaveryW). WalrusGuy got banned from YouTube due to his use of Dr. Rabbit in two of his Poops. Dr. Rabbit is owned by Colgate, which sued WalrusGuy due to copyright issues.

Nicholas explains how his Dr. Rabbit video became popular in an interview with YouChewPoop:
Youtubepoop.com had a Top 100 Poops list at the time, and one of Nickshorts’ Dr. Rabbit poops was at the top. I submitted “Dr. Rabbit is Racist!” as a response. Nickshorts not only accepted the response, but promoted it himself on the YCP forums, of which I was not a member at the time.
Later, On January 14th, 2008 in the YouChewPoop forums, Nicholas explained that he was tired of hassling with the legalities of Youtube Poop and would likely be leaving.
I became the most subscribed-to Pooper of all time. I became the first Pooper to ever return from the grave and restore several of my poops that had been semi-wrongfully removed for copyright infringement. I (ostensibly) made it safe to use Dr. Rabbit again.
But I'm tired of constantly staying on the blurry edge of community guidelines and copyright laws. Just yesterday my Death Note poop was removed, and although I sent a copyright counter-claim to YouTube, I doubt Viz and MadHouse will be as passive about it as Colgate was.

It is difficult to accurately determine the popular of this fad because the original instances have been removed from Youtube. But because of the controversy, Dr. Rabbit became a part of over 1,100 Youtube Poops since then.
