Elektro X refers to a series of YTPMVs where a video (usually a viral/well known video) is taken apart using the audio from the certain parts of the video to recreate the song Louder and Prouder (Picco Elektro Remix) by Brooklyn Bounce Vs. Sample Rippers.[1]
Origin
The fad's origin stems from December 20th, 2010 when YouTube user DWL1993[2] uploaded the video "Elektro Boxx" which uses audio samples from Boxxy's famous Vlog's as the "swarce".
Spread
Elektro Boxx got a favor for many other YTPMV creators. On December 23rd 2010, the first video response video Elektro Dieto that was a derivative of Dieto fad was posted to this video. And what followed was a flood of video responses uploaded primarily throughout 2010 and into 2011.
Today there are more than 100 video responses to the original Elektro Boxx.[3] The layout of those video responses is usually done as shown by the picture below:
Non-Elektro X
Non-Elektro X is a sub-fad in this series, and follows the same traditional YTPMV format of Elektro X. However it uses the original Louder and Prouder Mix as the "swarce musik".
Non-Elektro X originated when YouTube user FuckingMagicDude[4] uploaded the video "Non-Elektro Boxx" on March 18th, 2011. This video was posted as a video response to the video Elektro Boxx.
Elektro Gaylord is Better
Elektro Gaylord refers to a comment fad and an act of trolling which occurred on videos which were a part of the Elektro X fad. This originated when YouTube user IroncladPhazon, now under the name of DukeOnkledNukem[5], would comment "Elektro Gaylord is better" on video responses posted to Elektro Boxx. Elektro Gaylord was a derivative video uploaded by IroncladPhazon himself.
Soon this act was repeated by other YouTube users.
Because IroncladPhazon's account was closed due to repeated violation of YouTube's Community Guidelines, his comments are no longer seen on YouTube videos. However, the replies to his comments still remain clear as day. This comment fad is evident in numerous Elektro X videos and even inspired YTP/YTPMV-like YouTube videos of its own.
