Enemy Controller (Japanese : エネミーコントローラー) is a magic card from the Yugioh card game pictured as a generic game controller.

On Nico Nico Douga (NND) and YouTube, it is a MAD movie fad centered around a scene from the 3rd season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime where Seto Kaiba uses the card to control one Yugi’s monsters. This scene has been parodied multiple times.

Origin

The scene originates from “Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 3 Episode 129: Clash in the Coliseum, Part 1 (The Sky Coliseum: Yugi vs Kaiba).^[1] Kaiba uses his face down magic card, Enemy Controller, to control one of Yugi’s monsters so he can summon his god monster, Obelisk the Tormentor. But at the last moment Yugi uses his face down trap card, Lightforce Sword, which prevents Obelisk from being summoned for three turns.

While using Enemy Controller Kaiba shouts out “Reverse Card Open” and the button sequence “Left Right A B” in order to control the monster. The slight ridiculousness provoked some mild lulz, but it took a video remix years later to start the internet meme.

Spread

While the scene would have been forgettable, a NND user posted a Marisa Stole the Precious Thing parody on May 15, 2007, titled “Kaiba Entered the Horrible Command”.^[2]

More parodies followed, including MADs and AMVs.^[3] Several western users on Youtube created their own MADs(YTPMVs). Most of the MADs use the Japanese source video, while less commonly the English version is used.

As of September 2011, though they have been sometimes deleted due to copyright claims. the amount of videos in this series on NND is over 400^[4], and many of them are uploaded to YouTube.
