Der Gerät is the given name of the machine that easily cuts doner strips from the turkish creator and manager Duran Kabakyer for his own company Alkadur RobotSystems.

Origin

It all began in the DÖGA Doner Fair (Döner Gastronomie Messe) in Berlin, Germany on October 2011, when the manager presented his new popular creation. During the fair, the show ARD Buffet interviewed him and he had his first appearance on TV.

Spread

In the same month, Stefan Raab saw the interview and first cuted a scene out from the interview and presented it in his own show called TV Total. The cuted scene includes one of Duran Kabakyer answers by saying:

Der Gerät wird nie müde. Der Gerät schläft nie ein. Der Gerät ist immer vor dem Chef im Geschäft und schneidet das Dönerfleisch schweissfrei.

The only problem is his grammatical error by the words Der Gerät. In the german language the article of the word Gerät is actually Das.

Thanks to Stefan Raab, Duran gained more popularity. Now the scene has been presented many times in a week on the TV. On the October 20th, 2011, Duran Kabakyer was guest by TV Total.

After the interview, there were created many Android and iPhone game applications about Der Gerät.
There are also some parody videos that shows the iPhone as Der Gerät itself and more.
