About

Felines of New York is a single topic blog dedicated to showcasing a variety of domestic cats and humorous quotes that are fictitiously attributed to the feline subjects. It is a parody of the wildly popular urban life photography project Humans Of New York. Each Tumblr entry features a portrait of a cat paired with a "quote" from the cat.

Origin

The Tumblr blog Felines Of New York was launched by New York-based comedian and writer Jim Tews[2] on February 3rd, 2015. According to MTV's interview with the blogger, Tews began the project as a straightforward parody of the Humans of New York project and its sentimentalist approach. The first entry on the blog, which features "Lily" from Queens, New York, received 186 notes.
