About:
This meme was either originally created by a user on DA (?) or youtube. The original video is of two furry male characters doing the Caramelldansen dance to a sped up or 'chipmunk' version of Basshunter's song, DotA.

Background:
As said before the meme comes from two different sources, Basshunter's DotA and Caramelldansen. Of course anyone could easily identify Caramelldansen… But when people hear 'Basshunter' they probably have no clue who that is. Basshunter is a Swedish techno/trance artist who started writing songs in 2002. He recorded DotA in his album LOL <(^^,)> in 2008, although the meme came a year or two earlier. In Basshunter's music video for DotA, it shows him and some companions playing a Swedish game similar to World of Warcraft. And the song itself talks about playing the game and Basshunter's domination over the enemies.

And, for whatever reason, someone took it upon themselves to speed up the song. (Below is an extended version of the song alone.)

It then became the song and Caramelldansen combined…

Variations:
Of course variations of the meme have furrys/anthros, other anime animals (pokemon, warrior cats, ect.), and real-life people/cosplayers. The only change being that in some/many cases the pace of the dancing character/s is sped up to match the tempo of the song more.

Popularity:
Furry DotA is still a living meme, the last recorded video made for it just about 2 months old (as of 11/26/11). To me this meme still has potential and might last another few years, but I'll leave the true judgement to you like always.
