Groose is one of the main characters out of the 2011 Nintendo game “The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword” along with Link and Zelda. Groose is presented as a school bully, who often makes fun of Link as well as having a crush on Zelda. Throughout the game, Groose’s attitude to Link gets progressively better, and helps him battle against “The Imprisoned” with his machine “The Groosenator”. Due to his comical style, Groose has gained an internet following, which has spawned different videos and fan art.

Origin

This meme first started in late November of 2011, when Youtube user SUPERMARIOGALAXY13^[5] posted the video “Groose’s Theme Goes With Everything Funny”, which consisted of Groose’s theme playing to a scene out of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic^[6] episode " May the Best Pet Win!"

Soon after the original video was posted,many other videos appeared on Youtube within the next few days. Sites such as Neoseeker, Zelda Universe and Tumblr^[7] picked up on the meme, and commented on whether the meme was as good as “Guile’s Theme Goes With Everything”. While some people said that the tune did go well with the videos, many others dissagreed and said it was “just trying to copy the popularity of Guile’s Theme”.
