On Touhou fandom, bkub is a well known doujin mangaka (that’s indie comic book artist for you baka gaijins) who draws many 4-panel comic strips depicting many anime characters.

One of the most consistent comic strip series he draws is “Charm” which mainly depicts the life of the Yak-moo household, more notably Chen.

One of the most famous comic strip is Labeled “Bicycle” which is about Chen being bought the said bicycle

The comic struck a chord with Reddit (especially r/2hu), and started a trend of posting edited bkub comics with the panels rearranged to create different scenarios. Le Honk Cat Face is also often posted when somebody mentions the work “honk”

Influence to the artist

As the comic starts gaining attention due to Chen’s personality, the artist noticeably starts writing comic strips that revolves more around Chen’s antics with her friends, Twewy Naba and Orin, the Rat Demander
