The first time viewers saw this commercial, there were two reactions. 1) hahahaha!!1! and 2) WTF? The commercial opens up with a mother & father returning home to their kids and babysiter. He says to the babysitter, "I hope you don't mind if I pay you in…gum?"

She then starts to explain why new Trident Layers gum is so fantastic and then everyone starts happily telling the joy of this gum. Out from the window you see this random black guy (who is a mail man) pop out of the window and says in the weirdest voice, "I LOVE TRIDENT LAYERS!"

This has become a joke that many people of all ages use because it was on regular TV channels. (Also, the little girl in the video dissapears just beforee the camera zooms in to the japanese man in the background)
