A joke entry is something that someone puts onto the internet documentation website ‘Know Your Meme’ it often depicts a sentence or two in which the person who wrote the article explains that the meme is a picture they made and how they came about making it, not much else is shown.

The first case of a joke entry that I know of was back in 2009. When a user by the name of Dr. Robert created the CAMOAWAM, or Creating A Meme On A Website About Memes, article. In said article, he stated that a joke article, we don’t know which one, which was deadpooled almost instanly, made it’s way to 4chan and “started multiplying like mice.” This article too, was deadpooled almost instantly.

Other joke entries followed, such as Fuck That Shit, Ross, spoilerbitch mitch and ricky from trailer park boys. All of which gave little to no information about the subject they were referring to.

Mind you, though, not all joke entries are bad. One joke entry was actually confirmed(sort of)! In the wake of such trends as ‘owling’ and ‘storking’ User Mr. T. Created the article ‘standing’ In which he explained the memetic status of standing. This stood out from other joke entries due to the fact that, unlike the others, it was actually funny. The comments section of the article had a lot of people confirming it, but alas, the article has since been officially deadpooled.
