Shabbadoobi Remixes refer to a series of musical remixes sampling voices of a transformation belt in the 2012-2013 season Kamen Rider title Kamen Rider Wizard.^[1] The belt's too funky voices were a popular subject for parodies on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND) in the autumn of 2012.

Origin

The TV program Kamen Rider Wizard was aired from September 2012, and the TV commercial movie for the transforming belt called "Wizardriver"^[2] started to be aired in the end of August of that year (shown below). The feature of this rider belt is the "Spell Enchanter" speaker sings many phrases in too funky style when the player is holding transformation or magic rings over the belt. And the most remarkable phrase among them is "Shabba Doobie Touch Henshin!!" (Japanese: ｼｬﾊﾞﾄﾞｩﾋﾞﾀｯﾁﾍｰﾝｼｰﾝ!!) , a scat like a jazz player in the transformation sequence.

Spread

Shortly after the first episode was aired, these too funky shouts unfitting to morning time TV show for children made a headline among viewers and internet users. In a reflection of the popularity of these phrases, these soon became to a subject for parody remixes on NND as usual. The earliest instance was uploaded on September 3rd^[3], and the first hit tune led to a subsequent increase of remixes in this series was an electro house remix posted on September 5th, 2012.

In addition to musical remixes, the transformation sequence was also parodied in the MAD videos style or reenactments by IRL or Miku Miku Dance CGI models. As a result, over 350 videos of the transforming belt parodies had been uploaded to NND in its first month.^[4]
