Kate Upton is a model and actress known for being featured in several editions of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Online, she has starred in many viral videos and animated GIFs in which she wears sexually provocative clothing.

Online History

On April 3rd, 2011, the COEDmagazine YouTube channel uploaded a video of Upton performing the "Dougie" dance at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game (shown below, left). Within the next two years, the video gained more than 2.1 million views and 1,700 comments. On August 4th, 2011, YouTuber donaldwhiteman1 uploaded a video featuring slow motion footage of Upton walking down a runway at a fashion show wearing various swim suits (shown below, right). Within 16 months, the video received over 1.42 million views and 1,300 comments.



On May 1st, 2012, fashion photographer Terry Richards released a video of Kate Upton wearing a bathing suit while performing a dance called the "Cat Daddy" (shown below). The same day, the video reached the front page of the /r/videos[1] subreddit in a post by user fuckhitler titled “Kate Upton demonstrates the ‘cat daddy’”, which received over 15,600 up votes in 24 hours. With 10 months, the video received over 15.1 million views.



High School Prom Date

On March 16th, 2013, YouTuber Talia Myers uploaded a video of high school student Jake Davidson asking Upton to be his date for the prom (shown below). Within ten days, the video received over 2.05 million views and 2,300 comments.



On March 17th, a Facebook page "Help Send Kate Upton to Prom With Jake Davidson" was launched, which gained more than 1,500 followers in the next six days. On March 19th, Upton tweeted to Davidson that she would have to check her schedule to see if she could join him for the prom.




On the following day, Davidson appeared on The Today Show[4] where he explained why he had made the video and was joined by Upton via telephone (shown below).



On March 23rd, Upton told People Magazine[2] that she was unsure if she could accompany Davidson to the prom.

"I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with him or not, due to my schedule. I want to, but I just don't know if I can make it work. But I really appreciated being asked; it made me feel really great!"
