h2. About
Motteke! Sailor Fuku (もってけ!セーラーふく) is the opening of the TV anime Lucky Star (らき☆すた) which aired on April 2007. The show is a slice of life comedy based on a four panel comic series of the same name. It was produced by Kyoto Animation studio, the same company that produced _The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya_.
Lucky Star's rise to popularity is very similar to how its predecessor rose to fame. Both anime were done by the same studio, both anime produced popular dance fads, and the main characters of both series (Konata and Haruhi) shared the same voice actress, Aya Hirano.
The story of Lucky Star is about a young high school girl named Konata who is an otaku. The show revolves around the daily life of Konata and her friends. It is also popular for giving insight into otaku culture along with giving numerous nods and references to other anime series like Initial D, Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, Keroro Gunsou, and of course _The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya_.
h2. Spread
Very similar to the fad inspired by the Hare Hare Yukai, Motteke! Sailor Fuku (Take it! Sailor Fuku) also became a popular dance fad in 2007.

The full dance was featured in the last episode of Lucky Star which aired on September 16, 2007. A video clip of the dance was posted on Youtube the same day and over time has gathered over 8 million views. Similarly, the first Youtube upload of the anime opening has well over 4 million views.
Both the full dance and the opening animation have spawned numerous parodies and live action performances.
h2. Notable Parodies
There are several examples of tegaki (fanmade hand drawn openings) and MADs involving Motteke! Sailor Fuku. The popularity of these gave rise to other memetic material such as Timotei and Lucky Star's version of Paffendorf.

h2. Live Action Performances
Similar to the Hare Hare Yukai, this dance was also popular during the same time frame. Motteke! Sailor Fuku never quite reached the same level of notoriety as it's predecessor, but it still became fairly popular among anime fans.
