About

Muslamic Ray Guns is misheard quote from an EDL supporter in an interview from Press TV. Since then, it has become used in many memeic ways.

Origins

An interview was taken by Press TV at an EDL (English Defence League – far right movement) march on March 9th, 2011. The interviewer asks a young man why he's here today and the man states that he's "Going on a march, cos I want Britain to be about British". He continues on about his concerns that the "Inter-Racial Law" & the "Muslamic Infidel" are taking over the country. He then states that the "Iraqi Law" is being put down in other countries and it's already taking over London. When asked "Which Iraqi Law is this?", he states that it's the "Muslamic Law" rather than the Islamic Law.The part of the interview which got the most attention in the UK was that Muslims have "Muslamic Rape-Gangs" but this comes out as sounding like "Muslamic Ray-Gams". Many people thought that he was saying "Ray Guns" Whether he was nervous, distracted or just plain stupid is unclear.

Spread

The interview has became viral in the UK and has spread into other countries. This quote has been made fun of in many ways, spawning several parodies, remixes and auto tuned versions.

The popularity has become so large that a website called redbubble has actually started to sell t-shirts and stickers of an emblem with the infamous phrase on it.
