My hand is a dolphin is a phrase that refers to a movement of the hand in an up and down waving fashion, akin to the swimming of a dolphin. Usually seen in on Youtube comments, this is inferring that the move is awkward or lame, like “white people can’t dance”.
As the video’s popularity grew, Brock Baker, the original creator of the video, went on the sell T-shirts bearing the phrase, as well as “Get the F*ck Over Here” and “Everybody’s Russian,” two other catchphrases from the video.
A little more than a month after his original video, Brock dubbed a video of babies talking to each other, and included “my hand is a dolphin” calling it an internet meme. It can be heard at 0:45 seconds in.
Overall interest peaked at the end of March and the beginning of April, a few weeks after Brock first uploaded the video.
Google search trends show that “My Hand is a Dolphin” shockingly eclipsed the search values for “Rage Guy” for a short period of time when Brock’s Dub was at the height of its popularity.
