Newport (Ymerodraeth State of Mind) was a parody of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song ‘Empire State of Mind’. The parody was released on youtube on the 20th of July 2010 by the user mjdelaneyfilms.
The video has been commented on by multiple British news channels including ITV news.
Lookin Chain (GLC), a comedic Hip Hop group based around South Wales, parodied the parody two weeks later. In their their version. They mocked the parody by explaining that Newport isn’t really famous for anything.
