No Robo

This meme is a parody of “No Homo”, an expression popular in the hip-hop community. It was originally created as pictures of popular androids with the expression “No Robo” written in bold impact font. For example, Ash from the film “Alien”, the T-1000 from “Terminator 2” and a Cylon from “Battlestar Galactica.” It has since expanded to self-parody, incorporating anything within the structure “No [expression]-o”. For instance, a picture of Godzilla destroying the city would be accompanied by “No Tokyo.” A split screen of Sonny Bono and U2’s lead singer Bono would be accompanied by “No Bono.” A picture of a stern doctor would accompany “No HMO.”

It began on November 16, 2010 as a facebook wall post war between Jonathan Ade and Brad Champagne, and has recently expanded to a dedicated tumblr account, where submissions are taken.
