Only The Dead Can Know Peace From This Evil is an image macro and reaction face used to show disgust and hopelessness after an event. It is used on 4chan, Ponychan, and various other imageboards.
The macro consists of the face of a character, tinted red, with the overlaid text "ONLY THE DEAD CAN KNOW PEACE FROM THIS EVIL" in impact font.
Origin
The image macro's exact origins are unknown, but it came into high use on 4chan sometime in early 2011. The most often used image is an image of the Scout from the videogame Team Fortress 2.
The documented use of the image was on an early PonyChan[1] thread on March 18th, 2011.
Spread
Besides being used as a popular reaction face, the image style has been copied with other characters heads, ranging from Egoraptor to Emi from Katawa Shoujo.
