The red ring of death, or red ring of doom is a slang term for a general hardware failure on the Xbox 360 gaming console as it is shown with 3 red lights around the power putton. The ring would usually appear when the 360 would show freeze-ups as well as graphical and sound errors.

Impact

Many Xbox 360 users that have encountered this have made many complaints on it. The news of the RRoD has spread throughout the internet by fourm posts as well as news story videos.

This led to many people joking that the RRoD is truly what it is and caused the 360 to not work anymore. People have also made media on the crisis in the forms of both videos and humorous images.
