About

Shun the Nonbeliever is a phrase used, either alone or on an image marco, to point out another person's dislike of a fandom or idea, usually within the context of a large group discussing it. It is usually used in an ironic manner for humor, but can be used seriously.

Origin

The phrase originally appeared in 2006 in the first video of the Charlie the Unicorn series. It occurs at 1:20, when the two unnamed unicorns berate Charlie for not believing in Candy Mountain.

Spread

The phrase picked up along with the series itself, and image macros began to appear. The phrase continued to grow in popularity, and eventually spawned a facebook group that currently has over 100 thousand members. Eventually, "Film Cow", the site of the creators of "Charlie the Unicorn", made a t-shirt bearing the phrase.
