The Socially Awkward Meepit originated from the Socially Awkward Penguin meme, so it’s quite similar, though all creations are related to Neopets, since a Meepit is a petpet from the site. Obviously, it originated on the Neopets site, and was first mentioned in The Neopian Times (a weekly newsletter on the Neopets site) in issue #521 on 18 November 2011. Creations often represent situations that involve interacting with people in the real world who do not play or dislike Neopets.
