Chun-Li is a fictional character from Capcom’s fighting game series Street Fighter. She is one of earliest female video game protagonists who made her first appearance in Street Fighter II (1991) as a playable character and later nearly all subsequent games in the series. Chun-Li is also notable for her status as “The First Lady of Fighting Games”.

After the success of Street Fighter II and Chun-Li’s achievement in earning a large widespread popularity, female protagonists became increasingly common. Since then, in games with a character selection will always have a female in it. Later, more female characters are made in character selections.

Thunder Thighs

Her other spread in the Chun-Li popularity is not only her sexy looks, but her very large muscular legs known as her thunder thighs.

Cameos And Appearances

Not only Chun-Li makes a main appearance in the Street Fighter series, but cameo appearances in other video games like Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire 3, Final Fight 2, Mega Man 9, Saturday Night Slam Masters, and the movie Wreck-It Ralph. She also appears in other video games like We Love Golf.

@Gaben History and memetic content are two different things. Even after reading what you’ve written, I don’t feel that Chun-Li in any way can be considered popular apart from Street Fighter. Yes, she’s popular online, and for the reasons you’ve listed, but writing an individual entry for her implies she stands out in a way that is different from the rest of the characters in the game, which I don’t agree with. There may very well be a historical precedent to her, but we don’t document things for historical precedent, we document them for independent memetic spread.

Deadpooling on the condition that any work done on the entry to prove me wrong will pull it back out.
