About
Uma Musume Pretty Derby is an anime series and upcoming mobile game about a group of famous Japanese racehorses reborn as "horse girls," who then train to be successful racers and idols.
History
On March 25th, 2018, TOHO Animation uploaded a trailer for their upcoming mixed media project about horse girls who also want to be Japanese idols (shown below). That day, Cruncyroll[1] released information about Uma Musume Pretty Derby. The anime is directed by Kei Oikawa and written by Akihiko Ishihara and Masafumi Sugiura. It is broadcast on Tokyo MX, BS11, KTV, and sts.[2]
The story follows a horse girl called Special Week, a horse girl who wants to conquer the "Twinkle Series" and be the Number 1 Horse Girl in Japan. The series premiered on April 2nd, 2018 and has run for four episodes as of April 17th, 2018.
Mobile Game
A mobile game is in development to be released in tandem with the series. It is being developed by Cygames and will be released on iOS and Android.
Online Presence
On MyAnimeList,[3] the anime has a rating of 7.12/10 with votes from 3,300 users. There is also a Wiki[4] for the show and a page on Anime News Network.[5] Additionally, there have been several popular Anime Music Videos created for the series. For example, on April 1st, 2018, YouTuber Kazuma AMV uploaded an AMV for the series, gaining over 113,000 views (shown below, left). Another by Monster AMVs gained over 344,000 views (shown below, right).
