On the night of June 5th, a movie called The Tunnel, a free movie released on torrent, was streamed. This film featured a character named Jim 'Tangles' Williams who mysteriously vanishes part-way into the movie. This character is mentioned a few times through out the film and came to be the sarcastic blame for a lot of their problems by a lot of the members in the stream. The Tangles image macro appeared that night on sites like MEME GENERATOR. The text featured with the image would depict situations that were in the movie that members of /x/ could put in a more humorous light.

Notable uses of this meme appear on 4chan's paranormal board as a way to bump threads. Images of Tangles would be posted in the thread amongst other bumps.

Tunnels Synopsis:
An investigation into a government cover-up leads to a network of abandoned train tunnels deep beneath the heart of Sydney. As a journalist and her crew hunt for the story it quickly becomes clear the story is hunting them.
