About

The Ugly Barnacle is a story told by Patrick in the season 2 episode "Something Smells", of the popular TV show SpongeBob Squarepants. It became a source of humour in different parodies, and also a popular target of YouTube Poop videos. The most common usage of the video is to replace the word "Barnacle" with something else.

Origin

In the episode "Something Smells", the inhabitants of the Bikini Bottom start avoiding SpongeBob. He starts thinking that they are avoiding him because he is ugly, and Patrick has to come to his aid. Patrick tells him the stroy of the "Ugly Barnacle", in order to cheer him up, but he fails miserably, and only makes things worse.

"Once there was an Ugly Barnacle. He was so ugly, that everyone died! The End."



The same episode also spawned another meme, called "Deuueaugh".

Popularity And Spread

The original video has gathered approximately 2'000'000 views on YouTube, and vartiations of the video have up to 500'000 views. The Google Search Interest have been showing a steady rise on searches for "The Ugly Barnacle", and a normal search yields over 500'000 results.

In long-past archaic days of old, there existed A marine crustacean of the subclass Cirripedia which, to its own misfortune, was quite repugnant. This creature was, indeed, so horridly repulsive, sickening and grotesque, that, alas, the fate that had befallen those unfortunate enough to gaze upon its nightmarishly ghastly visage, was an agonizingly lengthful and tormenting demise. And, that, my friend, is the conclusion of this cautionary tale.
