About
Vertical Comic (usually referred to as yonkoma or 4koma) is a style of image macro in which the story unfolds in a series of photos or images in a vertical format, usually with the juxtaposition of bold Impact text for dialog indication.
Origin
Yonkoma Manga (or 4-koma for short, Japanese for "four-cell manga") is a comic-strip format, consisting of four panels, equally sized ordered vertically, from top to bottom.
The first yonkoma comic was created by Japanese manga and nihonga artist[2] Rakuten Kitazawa (artist name, Yasuji Kitazawa) in 1902. The comic was called Jiji Manga[1].
Image Macro
The first instance of a vertical comic as an image macro originated in 2003 with the 4-pane image macro series Reaction Guys (also known as Gaijin Yonkoma)[citation needed].
