"Whatever, It's 2009" is a misquote taken from the second episode of the Cartoon Network show "Adventure Time". It is one of the few quotes from the show that has gained major popularity in the fandom.

Origin

Adventure Time premiered on April 5, 2010 with the episode "Trouble in Lumpy Space" being the second shown. It was the episode that introduced the character Lumpy Space Princess or LSP for short. She is known for having a typical valley girl attitude while having a boyish voice at the same time. In the episode, Finn and Jake need to get into Lumpy Space in order to get the antidote for "The Lumps" which Jake has caught. They approach a toad that acts as a gatekeeper and asks for the password. LSP then shouts out her password "WHATEVERS2009", which has been said to be a password that the typical teenage girl would have.

Impact

The password has been often misquoted as a phrase "WHATEVER IT'S 2009!", making it seem like LSP was saying that as password wasn't necessary due to the year. This has caused some confusion on it though because the episode premiered in 2010. Despite this, the quote has been popular, and has recieved many video parodies and fanart.
