Wilhelm Scream is one of the most commonly used sound effects in films.

Its first appearance was in 1951 Distant Drums, where a man is bitten by an alligator and dragged under water.

It has been used in more than 255 films, including in Star Wars on several occasions, as well as many other TV shows and video games, usually when a character falls from a great height to his death or flung away by an explosion.
