About
"Wombo Combo" is a memorable quote derived from a viral video showcasing a Super Smash Bros. Melee match in which a man can be heard loudly celebrating the execution of a winning combo. The phrase has since been used to describe impressive combination moves in a variety of other video games and audio from the match is often dubbed in various parody and remix videos.
Origin
On December 6th, 2008, the SCSA West Coast Circuit Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament was held, which included a doubles match between a green team consisting of player SilentSpectre as Captain Falcon and player Tang as Fox against the blue team of players Zhu and Lucky as Fox. After the green team executes a doubles combo against Zhu, the commentators HomeMadeWaffles, Phil and Mango loudly yell various phrases such as "happy feet," referencing Zhu's "Happy Feet" video,[3] and "wombo combo" (shown below). Two days later, YouTuber Lumpycpu uploaded footage of the match, which gained over 10.3 million views and 22,300 comments in the next eight years.

Looking back at first deadpool.
Wow, we've made bigger mistakes that this one since then.
We must bring back the combo. that is made of wombo, possibly wumbo. The spoofs still crack me up.

Just gave this entire article a serious overhaul. Would appreciate it being taken out of the deadpool.
pweez & thank yoo
@Jorge
Reasons?… or are you just gonna come shoot down something I worked hard on with your short answers.
how is this not a meme?
People are still making retarded youtube parodies of it
SSBM related meme = relevant to my interests
IT R A MEME FUCK YO COUCH
+1 confirm, its still being parodied and made fun of/laughed at today.
That ain't Falco, That ain't Fa- OH OH! OMG. WHERE YOU AT?!
Amazing. After almost 9 years, this game still amuses me. So awesome.

Then epic lulz were had by all.
+1 confirm.I've heard a number of references to it IRL recently.

Finally, out of the 'pool!

Shouldn't Diago vs Justin Wong be a Wombo Combo?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7cW2nMf1gk
confirmed.
just don't let me see a combo breaker mix.
Problems with article:
Zhu was not the crowd favorite for the match, nor were him and lucky expected to win. SS+Tang at the time was very, very well known as the best team in the world, even though both players were barely top 10 worldwide at singles.
This video did not spark any new interest in teams. Every tournament has 1v1 and 2v2, and close to every player enters both events.
This video did not change how players viewed the match. Outrageous 2v1 combos have always existed; this one just happens to be better than the rest.
There is no such thing as "The 2008 SCSA West Coast Circuit" tournament; that is a series of tournaments that were held basically every fucking weekend in socal.
My reaction to seeing this confirmed
Dude, this was like the first submission that was ever deadpooled and now it's the newest confirmed meme!
Seeing this get confirmed is making me reconsider everything I thought I knew.
Uhm, the SmashWiki links in this entry should link to SmashWiki http://www.ssbwiki.com/Main_Page and not SmashWikia. The community of the SmashWiki left Wikia back in September to become an independent Wiki, and while Wikia refused to delete the old Wiki, linking to the old Wiki is detrimental as there is no community left to maintain the articles properly. As such, it would be more beneficial for this article to link to SmashWiki and not SmashWikia.
I never thought I'd see the day this was confirmed…
I heard this term used frequently in Halo 2 years before this match ever happened, back in college days (2005 at the latest). Cursory internet search turns it up at bungie forum from 2007 for example: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:AnVTP98_S0sJ:www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx%3FpostID%3D8964148%26postRepeater1-p%3D4+%22wombo+combo%22+%22halo+2%22+-smash&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=opera&source=www.google.com
i thought there would be talk of wombology and wombo-wings, but i was wrong, about the content and the spelling of Wumbo even though theres three different spellings. but should i feel bad if im a ssb fan and ive never heard of this?
definately a meme. heard so many tf2 users use this as micspam, or even reference material
I am sitting here laughing my ass off. This is so hilarious. xD
+1 put videos in video section rather than on the page
I was expecting to have to click a scrollbar, not get a headshot
+1 Work for montage parodies

Wombo Combo gets confirmed? I think it's time to celebreate with the MLG Can Can.
This is the type of shit I go online for.
This is the type of shit I go online for.
For those wondering, this was already confirmed, it just sat around with a crap-tier entry for years cus nobody was bothered to truly update it, a common issue with ancient confirmed entries from a time before we had a style guide.
And this very day…
we still don't know where he at.
"My fucking dick hurts! My dick hurts!" – Commentator, 2008.
Knowing that my favorite smasher assisted with the combo makes this even more satisfying to me.
When ever I hear wombo my mind goes straight to spongebob
WUMBO CU-

Also is the term for a Druid playing Savage Roar + Force of Nature in Hearthstone.
Also also, not to be confused with the term "womb comb."
The actual Falco is not present at the current moment, but rather a clever impostor. Please try again later.

14 years, whatever!
Wombo Combooooooo!
Were the words "wombo combo" a reference to something or was the commentator just making up a nonsense word to rhyme with "combo"?
