Wonder Drug (Japanese: ふしぎなくすり, Fushigina Kusuri), also known as Miracle Medicine, is a song from the 17th game of the Pop'n Music series, Pop'n Music THE MOVIE. This song has been used in many hand drawn animated videos and MAD videos on Nico Nico Douga (NND), which are usually associated with Pokémon characters.

In the videos, the character typically dances to the music and then is given to drink (forcefully) a solution of sorts which changes them physically (also turning into human girls) or abilities such as surfing, burning (usually by a fire-related character), or flying, while enraged, drunk or dreaming of fighting an evil opponent.

Origin

The song's original title is CAPSULE PRINCESS ~ Fushigina Kusuri composed by Keiichi Ueno "feat. SATOE", featured in the rhythm game Pop'n Music THE MOVIE.^[1]

The first MAD video using this song, "I was made to drink the Wonder Drug" featured Pikachu from the Pokémon series. It was uploaded in Nico Nico Douga on May 29th, 2010, and had been watched over 2 million times until it was deleted by the copyright claim.^[2]

Hurry Up with the Doping!

The Wonder Drug MAD characters always feature a notable expression yelling Iikara Doping Da! (いいからドーピングだ！), which roughly translates to Hurry Up with the Doping!

The original image comes from the popular manga series, Slam Dunk by Takehiko Inoue. The scene comes from the 109th chapter, "Accident", where the Shohoku basketball team captain, Takenori Akagi, seriously injures his ankle but insists on keep on playing by demanding bandages be placed on his injured ankle.

The panel was later doctored in Japanese so it looks like Akagi is demanding "doping" (ドーピング) instead of bandages (テーピング, Taping). The modified image is used in the MAD videos.

Many other amateur illustrators follow the Pikachu version and have been creating videos featuring other shows and characters with their own rendition since around the end of November 2010. Among them, Pokémon is usually the most common theme, which also often easily connects that franchise's theme of an "evolutionary line" and in-game items.

The number of videos in this series on NND has reached over 600.^[3] And more than a dozen of videos in this series have scored hundreds of thousands of page views.
