About

"Yes! Yes!" is to a line of dialogue exclaimed by antagonist M. Bison of the 1995 animated series Street Fighter. Since 2007, the clip of M. Bison saying the line and pumping has been used in YouTube Poops, often used together with another line "This is delicious."

Origin

On December 16th, 1995, episode eight "The Medium Is the Message" of the animated series Street Fighter, an adaptation of Street Fighter fighting video game franchise, premiered.[1] In one scene of the episode, antagonist M. Bison is watching a fight between characters Guile, Chun-Li and Blanka and M. Bison's mutant combatants, with Guile and his allies apparently losing. Happy with this development, M. Bison smiles, exclaims "Yes! Yes!" and pumps his fist (scene shown below, right). An short upbeat tune plays while he celebrates.

- This is delicious!
- Guess you won't be needing those tapes I made for you. You want me to get rid of them?
- Don't be hasty. Nothing I see those Street Fighters pummeled to dust. Which should be any moment now… Yes! Yes!

On May 6th, 2007, YouTuber[2] Youpooper (also know as Rioting Soul) posted a YouTube Poop based on the clip, titled "Madness is delicious." The video (shown below) received over 103,800 views in fourteen years.

Spread

According to Youpooper, the meme was initially circulated within the forum section of Street Fighter community website Shoryuken.com.

On June 24th, 2007, Youpooper[3] posted another YouTube Poop that use the clip (shown below, left). The video received over 28,700 views.

On November 13th, 2007, YouTuber[4] Luioigi posted a video titled "THIS IS DELICIOUS!", a remix that combined the clip with This Is Sparta!. The video received over 80,000 views in thirteen years (shown below, right).

The clips achieved further spread in 2008 after being used by several YouTube users in their YouTube Poops. On April 25th, 2008, YouTube[5] user SvenFletcher posted an edit in which Wario's voicelines were edited in, with the video accumulating over 147,000 views in thirteen years (shown below, left). On August 19th, YouTube[6] user hobopigeon posted an edit that gained over 136,000 views in the same period (shown below, right).

In addition to its use in YouTube poops, the voice line also gained popularity on YTMND (not to be confused with YESYES Alternate YTMND Universe). For example, on February 26th, 2008, user Dekabreak posted an YTMND[7] titled "YESYES – M. Bison Version" that received over 8,700 views and achieved a 4.5 average user score.

Youpooper's Comment

In a conversation with Know Your Meme, Youpooper revealed additional details on the origin of the meme.

I frequent a fighting game website named Shoryuken.com. In the forums, a member named The Switcher created a thread about the USA Network's cartoon adaptation of Street Fighter. He got his hands on the episodes and uploaded them onto YouTube for us to enjoy how bad it was.
For a few months up until then, I wanted to get into pooping (Editor's note: producing YouTube Poops), but things never worked out. While watching one episode of the cartoon I witnessed the Bison scene and had to poop it. I made an alternate YouTube account since the other one was for serious videos. I made the poop, uploaded it and made it a response to the OVER 9000! video.
That is the first instance of the meme. I posted it on the Shoryuken.com forum and we had a little laugh. For a while, it stayed inside the Shoryuken.com and YouTube Poop communities. The Switcher started getting requests for him to upload a clip of Bison saying only those lines. Much later, other uses and references have popped up.

YESYES Alternate YTMND Universe

On March 17th, 2006, an unrelated Sean Connery's line "Yes! Yes!" line from the 2000 film Finding Forrester spawned an Alternate YTMND Universe fad.[8][9]
