I am an avid LEGO fan, and I would buy these in a heart beat. However, I have serious doubts that LEGO will actually try and do this as MLP is made and owned by Hasbro, one of LEGO's biggest competitors. Also, though the fan base is huge, I don't really see this selling like mad, especially considering the price it may be. LEGO Transformers (Kre-O's don't count) I think would sell better and might be better worth the risk of competitors trying to work together benefiting both parties.
