The Aztecs were nothing more then a bunch of people obsessed with the cosmos, architecture and agriculture with the tendency to sacrifice people form neighboring empires, and their own citizens to keep the sun up in the sky. Also, they barely had any technology, and their empire only lasted about 900 years. The sun may have never set on the British Empire at one point, but it only lasted 300 years. Finally the Mongolian Empire was terrible at nation building, only known for its military conquests, the empire that lasted about 160 years. The Roman Empire lasted for 1484 years and was highly successful in maintaining its sphere of influence and developing revolutionary technology until the events leading to the downfall of Constantinople. I can safely say that the Roman Empire was the most successful empire in history.
