That awkward moment when girls do this to boys as well; it’s a child issue, not a gender issue. I was tortured when I was a kid, and then told that it was because “she liked me”.

Here’s the thing. When we’re younger, guys tease and push girls. Everyone laughs it off: “Oh, that’s how he shows he likes you!” “Boys will be boys.” But what we are really saying is that it is acceptable for males to abuse females, that when they get older they should continue that behavior in order to get girls’ attention.
What of the boy who pushed the girl off the swing set in grade school? When he gets to high school, do you think he is going to care when the drunk girl at the party tries to say no? When he gets married, do you think he is going to care when he hits his wife until she bleeds?
That is what we are teaching our boys when we reinforce this kind of behavior, that it is perfectly normal to treat women this way. That it’s just human nature for men to dominate women, and we are teaching them this from the moment they are children. How can you read this and not understand how much of an issue this is?
