And that's why I feel some analysts and console fanboys severely overreacted to Nintendo having probably they're first weak year since the Gamecube. I know from a business standpoint it's better to stay on top than to have your profits and revenue fall, but having an occasional drop is considered normal really (happens to many successful companies, like Google). As long as it wasn't a terrible drop that leads to the company going out of business, typically recovery can and will happen at some point.

Plus they've already acknowledged some of the areas that they were weak in during 2013 and are actively researching ways in which to change said weaknesses (though I would have to say that the marketing is seeing improvements already, the commercials are various Wii U games released in late 2013 and early this year have been pretty good). Interestingly, they said that the Wii U has been a big success in France, and are seeing what went right there so they can replicate it everywhere else.

The PlayStation 3 struggled for a good two years before it started to gain more respect from gamers (the "PS3 has no gaemz" joke, anyone?), maybe the Wii U is just this gen's PS3.

Nintendo is awesome.

Sure, they haven't been doing so well recently, but they'll come back strong soon enough.
