Good premise that's quickly abandoned in favor of a lousy plot--check.
Characters who shouldn't even be called characters--check.
A poorly-done romance that's rushed, forced and looks like the workings of a 14-year-old who knows nothing of real relationships--check.
A hellspawn of a character "adopted" like a daughter--check.
A strong, capable female character reduced to a damsel in distress--check.
An incestual subplot that adds nothing to the story--check.
Villains with no real motivation and one who's easily forgiven despite the fact he was responsible for the deaths of thousands--check.
Pandering to the worst form of otaku there is--check.

A LOT of reasons to have this anime, basically.
